Maria Curman to Leave Bonnier Books

Maria Curman will be stepping down as CEO for Bonnier Books at the end of 2011. After ten years as CEO, she will be focusing instead on her work as a Bonnier board member. As a result, Bonnierförlagen CEO Jacob Dalborg will be taking on responsibilities for Bonnier’s Finnish and Norwegian operations within books, and Bonnier Media Deutschland CEO Hartmut Jedicke will become the new board chair for Bonnier Publishing in the U.K.

Henrik Stangel to Be New CEO for Dagens Industri

On Nov. 1, Henrik Stangel will become the new CEO for Swedish business daily Dagens industri. He succeeds Casten Almqvist, who becomes the CEO of TV4 on Jan. 1, 2012. Also on Nov. 1, Gunilla Herlitz assumes the post of board chair for Dagens industri.

Bonnier Morning Paper has taken the decision to sell its shares in the three southern Sweden local daily newspapers Kristianstadsbladet, Ystads Allehanda and Trelleborgs Allehanda that are currently a part of the SDS Group.

Bonnier Broadcasting to Start Production Company

Bonnier Broadcasting, together with Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm, has decided to start a new TV production and program rights company: Scandinavian Studios. The company will develop, produce and exploit TV program format rights in cooperation with Bonnier’s TV channels. Carrfors Bråkenhielm will serve as CEO.

Gunilla Herlitz New Board Chair for the SDS Group and Bold Printing Group

At the annual meeting of the SDS Group on May 25, 2011, Dagens Nyheter Editor-in-Chief and President Gunilla Herlitz was elected the new chairman of the board. Herlitz will also become chairman of the board for Bold Printing Group at its annual meeting in September. She replaces Ulrika Saxon as chair of the SDS Group Board and Jonas Bonnier as chair of the Bold Group Board.

Bonnier acquires Finland’s leading publishing house

Bonnier announced today that it will be acquiring WSOY – Finland’s leading publisher of general literature – from Sanoma. Combined with Bonnier’s current ownership of Tammi, the acquisition will strengthen Bonnier in general literature in Finland. As part of the transaction, Sanoma will acquire Bonnier Utbildning and Tammi Learning from Bonnier, allowing both Bonnier and Sanoma to focus on key strategic areas in their respective businesses.

Bodil Ericsson Torp to be new director of human resources and communications for Bonnier AB

On April 1, Bonnier AB will introduce a joint HR and communications department. The aim is to ensure the strategic development of the two activities together. The director of the new department will be Bodil Ericsson Torp, who most recently served as CEO for the digital job search company Workey.
