Swedish news magazine Veckans Affärer and media industry trade title Resumé have acquired the event B2B-Dagen - B2B day - from ad agency Hilanders and will start a new think tank, B2B Conversations, with the agency. B2B-Dagen was started by Hilanders 10 years ago.
"Communication and knowledge-intensive investments are taking over from raw materials as the drivers of growth within Swedish industry," says Pontus Schultz, publisher of Veckans Affärer. "Large Swedish companies are world leaders when it comes to this change. With B2B Conversations we want to create a connection between top-level strategists in big companies and experts from within the communications industry."
Every year, B2B-dagen attracts the most important decisionmakers within communications and advertising from both the supplier and the purchaser sides. The event was launched to create a meeting place with a focus on brandbuilding and business-driven communication. This year the event will be held on Dec. 7.
In the fall, B2B Conversations will produce reports that attempt to define communications as a driver of growth, the challenges of switching from a production-driven economy to knowledge- and communication-driven business faced by large companies, the political sphere and the communications industry.
"Communication is a core competence for leaders of large Swedish companies today," says Viggo Cavling, editor-in-chief of Resumé. "For the communications industry it's important to both understand and participate in the public discourse on what the challenges are."
