Ulrika Saxon Interns at SF Bio

We talk with Ulrika Saxon, the new board chair for SF Bio, about how she spent her evening yesterday.

What were you up to yesterday?

I interned at the Saga movie theater on Kungsgatan in Stockholm. It was so much fun! It was also very interesting to get a taste of how things function at a movie theater, everything from the operations in the projection room, the storage of popcorn and other perishable foods, the clever system that supports the cash registers and movie schedules, and of course the thinking around how to make the experience of watching a movie at a theater the best it can be.

Were there any surprises or new things learned?

It was so impressive to see the positive attitudes and professional way the staff handled the customers. Many of them have long worked in cinemas, and in some cases at the same theater for many, many years, and it's obvious people are highly engaged. There's something magical about movie theaters!

I also learned that Breaking Dawn has been the cause of a few fainting attacks in the theater.

What do you think is important for SF Bio for 2012?

The upcoming year will be extremely exciting with the implementation of the new digital technology, which is a big and important investment. SF Bio is on the forefront in Europe when it comes to technology and for example, booking tickets online, and with a strong repertoire of films it looks like it will be another good year.
