Tomas Tranströmer Wins Nobel Prize for Literature

The Swedish Academy today announced that longtime Bonnier author Tomas Tranströmer won the Nobel Prize for Literature. In its announcement, the jury said the prize was awarded to Tranströmer "because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality."

Tranströmer, who turned 80 earlier this year, has had his books published by Albert Bonniers Förlag since his debut in 1954.

"It feels amazing, people are laughing and crying about it," says Katarina Arborelius, communications manager at Bonnierförlagen. "Tomas' publisher Eva Bonnier and PR manager Anna Tillgren are on their way to his home to help deal with the members of the press that are gathering there. Now it's time to pop the champagne corks!"
