Today the May issue of Olivia is out, along with the mini-travel shopping supplement I helped design! I was able to see it now in print and was very pleased with the outcome. The 36-page mini magazine is meant for people who are traveling so they know where to go when they are in that particular place.
It covers nine locations: Barcelona, Paris, London, Milan, Madrid, Antwerp, Berlin, Copenhagen and NEW YORK CITY!! There is a map of each place showing where the shops are located. The map is in a totally awesome watercolor graphic and provides bullet points for the shops in the area. Then there is a general description of each shop, what street it's on and the Web site address. The design for each section provides a picture of the shop, the exterior of the shop or maybe just an item you can purchase. If you think that isn't enough, there is also a section with a fashion designer and a top selection for relaxing and eating a meal, as well as recommendations if you want a nice place to sleep in the city. I think the best part about it is that it's small so you can carry it easily in your purse or fanny pack if you prefer. (By the way Gina Tricot - a store here in Finland - is totally trying to bring back the fanny pack and hammer pants...It's Hammer time!)
Yesterday I had lunch with Marjaana and Virve at Sasso. The Web site describes Sasso as a modern blend of a stylish food restaurant and a cozy wine bar. I describe it as the perfect atmosphere for good food and great company. Everything was delicious! I started out with a goat cheese salad and mineral water. For my main meal, I ate pasta carbonara. It was a wonderful meeting to talk about the experience I have had here for the last three months working with Bonnier Publications for Olivia magazine. We also discussed how we could prepare for the next GROW ambassador, like if there are things I could tell the next person that the Finland guide book doesn't tell you.
I have to admit being the first GROW ambassador in Finland, everyone has been soooo super nice and my stay has been a wonderful and challenging experience. I was very happy to take the time out for a lunch to reflect on the past months and what it has meant to all of us.
This weekend I am heading to Amsterdam! I am super excited to have the opportunity to travel and see many places while I am here. I plan to see the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum, the passageway of Begihof, take a canal tour and enjoy the sunny weather. Oh, and I also want to visit the Anne Frank house. I'm sure just like me lots of you had to read the book so it will be an experience to actually visit her home.
Off to the Netherlands I go. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
