Bonnier Corporation's Parenting.com has won a 2008 Magazine Publishers of America Digital Award for Best Web-Only Tool!

"Getting recognized in three categories—first place for Best Web Tool,  runner up for Best Website - Lifestyles, and third place for Best Community—is extremely gratifying. Especially given the competition!" says Parenting.com Director Rachel Fishman Feddersen.

Moms have been buzzing about Parenting.com's Child Health Guide in blogs and online communities all year.  Blissfullydomestic.com says, "I first used this site a couple months ago when my daughter had Roseola. I was reassured by being able to look at the picture of what the rash should look like."

The multimedia interactive tool, created in partnership with MultiMedicus, offers parents an easy way to understand common illnesses and symptoms.  Audio clips, video clips and photos help worried parents know how to soothe their child—and when to call a doctor.

Parenting.com's Child Health Guide was up against some stiff competition.  But the tool's easy navigation and no-fuss visuals helped to win the judges over.  MPA's site quotes a Baltimore Sun blogger, who explains, "I suspect this [tool] will be valuable for many of you, especially when a child suddenly gets sick in the middle of the night. Sometimes all the books in the world just don't really tell you what you're looking for."

Parenting.com plans to continue its winning streak with some exciting new programs in 2009.

"Love Your New Mom Body offers a three-month series of articles in Babytalk magazine accompanied by 12 weeks of newsletters, video workouts, community support. We're working on a great long-term piece about families and the economy with Parenting Magazine. And in May we'll be doing a giveaway a day (our users LOVE giveaways) in honor of Mother's Day, in collaboration with Parenting Magazine," says Rachel.

Considering the economic crunch American moms find themselves in this year, Rachel also plans to offer tools and tips on saving money.

"Moms are the accountants of the family so they're on the front lines of the budget battle and they have a really immediate, daily understanding of how tough times are," Rachel says.  "We've always had great information on how to stretch a dollar, but we're pulling it all together so it's really easy for her to find, in stories like 101 Ways to Bail Out Your Family Budget".
