MTV3 morning show turns 20

The oldest morning show in the Nordic countries, Huomenta Suomi (Good Morning, Finland), was first broadcasted on December 1, 1989.

Huomenta Suomi is broadcasted on MTV3 on weekdays from 6:25 to 9:10. The show became an instant viewer favourite, despite sceptics who claimed Finns were not going to watch TV in the morning and would rather read the newspaper or listen to the radio. According to the latest TV Audience Measurement, Huomenta Suomi has increased in popularity in 2009, with figures including share of viewing among the 25-54 age group up by almost 15%. Huomenta Suomi and Studio55, which is broadcasted after it, attract an average weekday morning audience of 650,000 of Finland's total population of 5.3 million.

The structure of the morning show has always contained those elements important to viewers: weather, news updates and the day's key topics, getting viewers nicely geared up for the day. Popular content also includes mini features by MTV's foreign correspondents, with Kari Lumikero reporting from Stockholm and Petri Saraste from Beijing, as well as the Book Mornings and the cookery section, which has been a regular component from day one.
