Meet Kate Goodin

From New York to a sunny Stockholm – Kate Goodin is in Sweden to stay, at least for three months.

Kate Goodin, 25, heard about the GROW program from a co-worker back home in New York. "She spoke often of it, so I decided to check it out myself," says Goodin.

So she applied - got chosen - and a while later, she landed in Stockholm and the Bonnier AB headquarters to help the Bonnier Media University (BMU) team for three months. There, Kate works with the annual GRID conference. "It's really shaping up to be such an exciting event!" she says. "My GROW time will end before the conference happens, so I am extremely jealous of everyone who gets to go!"

At Bonnier Corporation, she works as an editorial assistant for Parenting.com. "That includes assisting the editorial team with researching, writing, editing and producing any content that goes on the site," she explains.

Goodin has noticed some differences from the States regarding how Bonnier is perceived as a brand: "At home, Bonnier Corp is one of many publishers competing in New York City. Here, Bonnier is the premier media company. There's a sense of pride that comes with working for the No. 1 media company in Sweden, which I will take back with me to New York."

The daily work feels a bit similar, at least considering how the working group is set up: "My teams at Bonnier Corp and BMU are both pretty tight-knit, which I like," Goodin says says. "It's nice to feel close and comfortable with the people you work with daily."

Goodin is excited to be in Stockholm. "I love it! The weather is gorgeous, the food is excellent, and best of all, the people are so welcoming and pleasant. I couldn't have asked for a better combination than that," she says.

Her advice to Bonnier employees who are thinking of applying to GROW next year is to go for it and apply. "Few companies offer this amazing opportunity, so take advantage of it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing this."
