Lisa Julius: Taking Care of Business

GROW's Lisa says goodbye to her hosts and thanks Bonnier for the three-month experience.

This will be my last Bonnier blog as I am going home in a few days.  It is harder to leave now that I have made some friends both in and outside of work.  What an amazing time I have had!  I have visited five countries and wish I had time to visit more!  I would like to thank my Estonian hosts, especially Julia, for showing me around and helping me book my appointments, Karmo for answering my questions about Estonian politics and Merit for showing me a different side of Estonia.  I will remember you whenever I think of my time here...and Karmo, I still owe you a 'baby' for your cake (inside office joke).

They are now considering hiring someone full-time to do the job I have been doing for the past three months, so I guess having me here has given them an opportunity to assess whether the position is needed.  There is definitely more work to be done as many of these projects are ongoing and unfortunately, I will not be here to do it.   It is kind of strange not being involved in the whole project life cycle, because I am used to working on a project from beginning to release, but at least we have a good start on several major priorities.  I have written initial requirements documents for several projects, put together a comprehensive online priority list and interacted with several potential product vendors (including one we are in the process of signing with).

Tallinn closed for a few days this week for Jaanipäev so I decided to get out of town and go to Istanbul.  At least now I remember what 'hot' feels like so when I get back to Florida, I won't be in total system shock!

I would like to thank Bonnier for this opportunity over the last three months.  I would also like to thank my boss (and my NEW boss) at Bonnier Corp for letting me leave for three months to do this.  I am looking forward to getting home and back to my 'real life'. To the folks at Bonnier Winter Park, I will see you soon and will bring some Estonian chocolate for you (I know, you'd rather have the vodka!)   See you 'on the flip side'!
