It's time again to consider working in another job, another company, another country - without leaving Bonnier or your old job behind. GROW, Bonnier's global rotation program is now looking for participants for the three terms of 2011. "We have new jobs, new companies and new countries this year," says Elisabeth Palombo of Bonnier Media University and manager of the GROW program. "The movie theater SF Bio has joined, the sales and technology company Bink, book publisher Piper Verlag will be joining, and there will be jobs in China, Poland and Lithuania, which we haven't had before."
The GROW program, which was started in 2009, so far has had more than 60 participants, and more than 300 applicants. This year, there will be 19 different positions to apply for during three terms - winter, spring and fall. "It's been a huge success so far," says Palombo. "Every single GROW ambassador that I've talked to has said that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
The program has a wide range of positions available, Palombo says, in part to make sure that the program is open to as many as possible. "Having so many different jobs means so many more can apply," Palombo says. "I can't say it enough: If you have even the smallest amount of interest, apply! Even if a job description might not fit exactly with what you are doing, it doesn't mean you won't be right for the job."
The main consideration is that the time period you will be gone doesn't conflict with what's going on at your current job, Palombo says. "If the timing is right, you could end up spending three of the most inspiring and exciting months of your life as a GROW ambassador," says Palombo. "But don't take my word for it, talk to any of the previous GROW ambassadors and hear what they have to say." (You can read interviews with them here.)
