Hockey Season Set for Canal+ Finland

Hockey Friday hits CANAL+ in Finalnd again in November, with new commentators and experts.

CANAL+ has launched its broadcast coverage and commentator line-up for the upcoming season. This year's season, which culminates in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Helsinki, treats viewers to an exciting roll call of on-screen personalities including Antero Mertaranta, who has been appointed CANAL+ lead commentator and in addition to ice hockey will be turning his attention to other sports, including athletics and skiing on MTV3 MAX.

Launched on Monday, the CANAL+ team of commentators will include Juha Taivainen, Mika Saukkonen, Kimmo Porttila and Sebastian Waheeb. CANAL+ experts will include Hannu Aravirta, Doug Shedden, Risto Dufva, Kari Jalonen, Juhani Tamminen,  Jarmo Kekäläinen, and veteran Mika Kortelainen.

Journalists appearing on-screen during the World Championships and throughout the season include Teemu Niikko, Pekka Lehtinen, Jani Uotila, Tuomas Heikkilä, Timo Kunnari and Panu Markkanen. In the spring, the Championship news bulletins will be fronted by Inka Korhonen, Viivi Avellan, Minna Korkka and Leena Lepistö.

CANAL+ will be following the Finnish national team's progress throughout the season, including all Euro Hockey Tour (EHT) matches and all national team games in the spring. In addition to the men's 1st team matches, CANAL+ will be broadcasting the junior and women's world championships.

Friday nights will again be chance to catch up on the latest from the Finnish national hockey team as Hockey Night makes a return to the small screen. The first program will air at CANAL+ on Nov. 4.
