Grill Master a Hit

Grill cookbook from Weldon Owen for Williams Sonoma No. 1 in cookbooks at Apple's iBookstore.

The digital edition of the Weldon Owen title Williams-Sonoma Grill Master last week was the No. 1 best-selling cookbook in the Apple iBookstore in the U.S. Written by Fred Thompson, the title is a definitive guide to everyone's favorite way to cook, and is the first cookbook in the store to feature embedded video.

"Apple has been very supportive of the initiative to convert our titles to fixed-layout ebooks for the iPad," says Roger Shaw, vice president and publisher at Weldon Owen. "Thanks now to prominent placement in the iTunes Store, the timely nature of the release as we head into Father's Day, and the fact that this is a spectacular title on a popular subject, we're enjoying strong consumer response, which bodes well for the future. We're committed to scaling the conversion of our titles to the iTunes stores and adding current frontlist and the best of our backlist to the platform."

The ebook has more than 100 recipes organized by ingredient and retains the design and page layout of the print version, with linked cross-references, searchable text and a visual table of contents for easy navigation.

"The full-color photography really comes to life on the iPad, and you can bookmark your favorite recipes to help you achieve perfect results every time you fire up the grill," says Hannah Rahill, who is also a vice president and publisher at Weldon Owen.

The book can be downloaded here.
