GardenDesign.com Renovation Helps Gardeners of all Kinds

GardenDesign.com's new incarnation includes cool new features.

The latest issue of Garden Design has hit the newsstands with a fresh new look - and fresh content (read more here). And now so has the website, GardenDesign.com. "We felt it was time to give the website a new look to reflect the thoughtful, stylish content we're sharing," says Ganda Suthivarakom, website director. "The new GardenDesign.com provides the inspiration and information to everyone from the armchair gardener to the landscape professional. It seemed like the right time to make a site for this audience and there's nothing else on the web like it."

So what is it that makes the site different? It combines beautiful design ideas while serving as a real resource for how to achieve your own garden ambitions, Suthivarakom says. Cool features include an 'Answers' tool where readers and editors alike can ask and answer questions from the GardenDesign.com community. "We've also got a new 'Browse by Color' tool which allows readers to sort our articles and photo galleries by color," she says. "And if you see something particularly inspiring, you can 'clip it' and save it to your profile. Plus there's much more to come."

Suthivarakom's favorite feature is the "My Garden" section, where readers share photos and anecdotes about how they designed their gardens and how they reflect their personalities. "We plan on featuring small gardens, ambitious gardens, vegetable gardens, and more from wherever our readers are," she says. "It'll be a reflection of the diversity of nature as well as the diversity of our readership. Today's gardeners are tattooed rooftop beekeepers in urban areas; they're goal-oriented alpha types coaxing finicky, rare flowers into bloom; they're serious cooks in search of August heirloom tomato perfection. I think 'My Garden' is the perfect showcase for their work. Besides, when you pour your energy into creating something as marvelous as a well-kept garden, you want to share it with more admirers than just your immediate neighbors."
