Simona Toplak, Peter Frankl and Uros Urbas

This year's Jurcic Award for outstanding achievements in journalism in Slovenia was won by the editorial team of the business daily Finance: Editor-in-Chief Peter Frankl and his deputies Simona Toplak and Uros Urbas. Giving the reasons for granting the award to Finance's editors, the award's sponsor, the Josip Fund explained: "With their penetrating, perceptive and often rather juicy contributions, they reveal a deep understanding of the situation in Slovenia. Also, with their consistent editorial policy they have created the environment where different, even most critical opinions can be heard."

The Josip Jurcic Fund was established in 1993 by the Slovenian Association of Journalists and the Nova Revija Publishing house, to acknowledge the important role of media in the Slovenian society. The fund seeks to award journalists who cultivate responsible, intellectually genuine and authentic writing. Finance columnist Stanislav Kovač has received the Jurcic Award twice.
