Sweden's biggest online bookstore for children was launched on Wednesday - Adlibris Kids. The site has some 5,000 children's book titles for kids up to 12 years old, with clear age categories, information, campaigns and book tips from both kids and adults. Kids can also search for books by age.
"We're aiming to be the biggest sellers of children's books," says Pär Svärdson, CEO for Adlibris.
Adlibris' children's and young adult books sell for SEK 150 million and Adlibris hopes to double sales with its new online bookstore. Children's books are getting a lot of international attention and sales are increasing, so the timing is right. "The difficulty with children's books is that you can't always be sure what is appropriate for them," says Svärdson. "It can be difficult to find the right book, but Adlibris Kids should make this easier."
