Life At Bonnier - United States

Monika Klinar: I'm giving five stars

A proper way to conclude my GROW experience would not just by telling you about a bunch of things that happened in the last two weeks of my stay here at Bonnier Corporation, but to take a moment and evaluate my experience with the GROW program and why you should try to apply for it. So here is my PR for the GROW program

5 reasons why you should be a part of the GROW experience:

1. Very fast, highly efficient learning experience

Monika Klinar: The best month of the year

Our GROW ambassador Monika have a great time in NYC: birthday, halloween, marathon and the Yankees winning the World Series – all in one week!

November is the month that I am looking forward to most in the whole year. One reason is that my birthday is in the beginning of the month, which continues the birthday season in my family, another is because "happy December" is just a few weeks away.

Ylva Lundberg: A dream of my own avocado tree

Our Swedish GROW blogger Ylva works hard to do all the must-do's before she leaves Florida: rocket launch, alligators, Halloween and an avocado tree of her own

Hi there! Right now I'm a little desperate to make sure that I get to do and see all the things that I want before I leave. A week ago I accomplished one of those things on my list. Steve, his friend (Dennis), and I went down to Titusville to see the launch of the 327-foot Ares I-X rocket. It was Tuesday morning and we left at 6am to be there on time. We got there on time, but it turned out to be hours of waiting and sadly enough we had to go home. Apparently there were too many clouds and other ridiculous obstacles for the rocket to launch.

Steffen Trannerup: Suction fish, surfing and space rockets

Our GROW blogger Steffen from Denmark goes fishing and sets up a great initiative connecting Bonnier Corporation and Bonnier Publications

Testing, testing, one, two…

During my stay here in Winter Park, Heather Vessey and I have talked about how Bonnier Corp. and Bonnier Publications could share knowledge within email marketing in the future.

We want some sort of community or forum where everyone who works with this can exchange test results, creatives, campaigns, advice, etc. and share things we find inspirational. Sometimes something really stands out for some reason and these results should be spread out for everybody to use, learn and get inspired from.

Monika Klinar: Life at Bonnier Corporation

Our Slovenian GROW ambassador Monika tells us about her work at the Corporate Research Department and looking forward to Halloween

My GROW experience has entered its last month, and up to now I haven't told you a lot about my work here at the Corporate Research Department at Bonnier Corporation. I better do it, so when I'm back home, I won't need to do a lot of explaining. As I've told you in my first post, Bonnier Corporation publishes more than 50 special interest magazines, related multimedia projects and events.

Ylva Lundberg: Snorkling, burgers and one-legged turtles

Our GROW ambassador Ylva visits a skateboard event, goes snorkling and puts on bad sunscreen

Hi there. This weekend me and my handyman went to the Dew Tour to see some of the best skaters and BMX riders compete and showing off there best tricks. This was a really fun event going on the whole weekend. What I think is very interesting with the publishing industry here is how they not only use traditional marketing channels like printed and digital medias but also how you can market the magazines through events and other happenings. I think that's a great way to build up loyalty towards advertisers as well as the subscribers.

Steffen Trannerup: Marketing programs, alligators and rock 'n’ roll

Steffen looks for email programs for magazine subscribers and sees his favorite rock band in Tampa

As a part of relation marketing I've been looking into automated email programs, mainly for the email newsletters. Something we have implemented on the Scandinavian market during the last two years. Probably sometime next week we will launch a sign up confirmation email, which will be the first in a line of automated emails from Bonnier Corporation.

Monika Klinar: Diversity of tastes

Monika, our GROW blogger from Slovenia, enjoys the tastes of New York and gives you her best tips

Hi! As promised in my last post, this one is going to be about pursuing another passion of mine here in NYC: eating and tasting the food of the world. First, you need a bit of background, so you'll understand why this place is so exciting in terms of the food it offers. I am quite certain that you could divide people in those who don't care what they will have for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as long as they are not hungry anymore, and those who look forward to their eating time, as one of the best parts of their day (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit). Well, I am in the latter group.

Watch out – here comes SkiNet!

To launch three new web sites in only two months – is it even possible? It was the task that Megan Miller, digital director at Bonnier Mountain Group, faced this summer. And she did it – against all odds. Here is her own story.

The first thing I noticed about the Bonnier office in Boulder, Colorado was the giant ski-resort gondola hanging in the lobby above the reception desk. The second thing was that my work wardrobe of dresses and high heels were out of place in an office where outdoor gear doubles as business attire.

Ylva Lundberg: Why American envelopes needs more color

Our Swedish GROW ambassador Ylva explains why American direct mail needs more color

Hi there, Last week something scary happened. I woke up and left the building for my one minute walk to the office. But, the hot, sweaty humidity that hits me in the face when I open the front door was gone! I was so sad. Did I only get one month of hot sweaty weather?! Luckily this was just a two day event and now the heat is on again. I am happy!
