Chris Cote: Perfect Timing Is Rad

A Week in the Life: Chris and the Transworld SURF staff "pull an audible."

This is the last I will mention the opening event of the ASP World Tour. But about three weeks ago, the Transworld SURF staff got together and pulled an audible. We decided to forgo a photo-piece on California and do a Pro Spotlight with Joel Parkinson, basically calling it out that he's our pick for this year's World Champ. While in Oz, I tracked Joel down and interviewed him. Our photo editor, Aaron Checkwood picked a bunch of epic photos of him, and everything came together. He lost in his first heat and we started to worry a little bit.

Chris Cote: Peak Surf

A Week in the Life: ASP World Tour, surfing rivals, and a film premiere.

Last night I stayed up late watching the Quiksilver Pro on the Internet. My friend Dane Reynolds lost to Taj Burrow, but my personal pick for the winner of the event and the whole shebang, Joel Parkinson, advanced to the semi-finals where he goes up against his friend, rival, and in-form Mick Fanning. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll explain.

Meet Chris Cote

A Week in the Life: The Transworld SURF Editor-in-Chief parties on Australia's Gold Coast.

My name is Chris Cote, and I am the Editor-in-Chief of Transworld SURF magazine and transworldsurf.com. This is day one of my five-day blog bonanza. I just returned from a week in Australia. Transworld SURF teamed up with New Era (a leading American hat manufacturer) and rented an amazing house right on the beach in Coolangatta, on Australia's Gold Coast.

Surfing to the Top

How Chris Cote went from rock-band roadie to magazine editor-in-chief.

Chris Cote sits in the big boss chair at the world’s best surf magazine. This, of course, is his opinion, because he practically gave birth to TransworldSURF way back in 1999. Like most successful people, he’s has had some big adventures on his way to the top. Unlike most editors-in-chief, however, Cote’s adventures include being a pro surfer, and a few years as a roadie for a top rock band.
