Popular Science Eco Tour 2011 Set for May Launch

Pierce Hoover teaches his son Nash about conserving energy with a cross-country trip using the power of a single lightbulb, sponsored by Popular Science.

How do you show your son that taking the time to turn off his room light - one single light bulb - makes a difference? If you're Pierce Hoover, you come up with a plan that involves traveling around North America in a vehicle that uses the same energy as a light bulb, bringing your 12-year-old son with you and getting Popular Science magazine and General Electric to sponsor the trip.

Meet Sara Schiano

Bonnier Sales Awards Field Sales Representative of the Year finalist Sara Schiano is the sole nominee from the U.S. at this year’s awards gala.

When five enthusiast titles from Hachette Filipacchi were bought by Bonnier Corporation in 2009, Sara Schiano came along with the deal. Schiano easily made the transfer as a sales representative for the new Bonnier Technology Group, where she brought plenty of resources with her. "In 2010, I was most proud of bringing my core photography advertisers into Popular Science and online at our popsci.com website and iPad tablet platform," says Schiano.

Brain Food

Lights, camera, Oreo explosive!  PopSci.com director Megan Miller makes science delicious on Food Detectives.

My mom used to tell me not to play with my food, but she never explicitly forbade me to do experiments with it. So I was psyched when the Food Network asked me and a few of my Popular Science colleagues to guest host a TV show all about food and science.
