When Helsinki celebrates as Design Capital 2012, MTV Media will be there as a partner - and as a key purveyer of design.

MTV Media will be one of the main partners of the Design Capital Helsinki 2012. The Design Capital Helsinki 2012 project has plenty to gain from the partnership, since Finns spend a total of seven hours a week watching MTV Media's TV channels and accessing mtv3.fi and sub.fi.

"MTV Media is participating with great enthusiasm as one of the main partners in the WDC Helsinki 2012 project," says Heikki Rotko, executive vice president at MTV Media. "MTV Media has a unique role in the everyday life of Finnish consumers.

For someone who grew up on American pop culture, moving from Helsinki to Florida has been a dream come true. "All my life I've loved Happy Days, action movies, Springsteen, Seinfeld, Conan, NBA, HBO, etc.," says Jussi Hakanen, who is working at Bonnier Corporation for three months under the GROW program.

Meet Riku Antikainen

At MTV MEDIA in Finland, Timo Kiuru works for entertainment channel Sub, producing events for the marketing team. But for three months, he's exchanging the snow and winter of Helsinki for the sun and relative warmth of Florida, where he's working at Bonnier Corporation as a GROW participant. He jokes that it was the weather that made him decide to apply. "Seriously, though," he says, "it was curiosity.

MTV3 star and Golden Venla winner Aku Hirviniemi

Finland's MTV Media was a big winner in the Golden Venla Awards, the country's most important TV competition. Actor and comedian Aku Hirviniemi, who stars in Stand Up on MTV3, won two awards - one  as best actor and one as the audience pick for best performer. The MTV3 hit series Easy Life won for best drama series and the search for lost relatives show Kadonneen jäljillä won for best reality program - for the second year in a row.

Sub Offers Added Value for Advertisers with Substanssi Seminar

It takes more than having 1.6 million daily viewers in a country of 5.3 million to attract advertsiers. Finnish commercial channel Sub offers its advertisers something more with its Substanssi seminar.

Finland's Sub is all about entertainment. With a heavy focus on popular series - both domestic and foreign - Sub is the No. 3 commercial station in Finland, with some 1.5 million daily viewers in a country of 5.3 million. That's a big chunk of the TV-watching public. Which makes Sub attractive to advertisers and business partners. But getting advertisers in an age of falling ad revenues takes more than just attractive viewership numbers.

Meet Hanna Kallankari

Switching from acquiring TV programs to selling book rights was an easy change, says Hanna Kallankari.

Hanna Kallankari, 30, comes from Keminmaa in northern Finland, but she's been living in Helsinki since she was 15. In 2003, she started working as a trainee at MTV Media, and by 2008 she had worked her way up to the position of Acquisitions Executive, acquiring TV programs for various MTV channels. In February, she traveled across the Baltic to Stockholm as a GROW participant to work for Bonnier Group Agency (BGA) with a very different product: books.

Meet Jutta Pasanen

Interactive media producer from MTV Media gets a taste of online producing at Saveur and Parenting.

"I have always dreamed of working abroad and this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I had to catch," says Jutta Pasanen. Catch it she did, moving from Helsinki to New York City as a GROW participant. At MTV Media in Finland, Pasanen had a broad range of responsibilities. "My title is iProducer and I take care of interactive functions, such as voting and viewer games, in MTV3's prime time TV shows. I also deal with mobile charity lottery and fundraising in charity concerts and TV shows that are presented on the channel.

The last weeks have brought new unexpected pleasure to my life. For more than 2 weeks I'm one of the hosts of the channel on which I work as a GROW program participant.

The whole story begun as a joke. During our corporate trip to Suomenlinna, in a restaurant with a glass of wine I told my colleagues about my working experience and mentioned the work as a host on St. Petersburg's MTV channel. Then my colleagues just for fun said: "Maybe you should make your own Russian speaking show on our channel?" Supporting the tone of the conversation I answered: "Sure, why not?"
