Brage Prize to Three Cappelen Damm Authors

Cappelen Damm authors big winners for this year's Brage Prize in Norway.

Norway's most prestigious book award, the Brage Prize, was given out on Nov. 24 and among the five winners were three authors from Cappelen Damm. Longtime Cappelen Damm author Kolbein Falkeid won an honorary award for his lifetime's work - Falkeid has been with Cappelen since his debut in 1962. In the category of best children's or young adult book of the year, Inga Sætre for her book Fallteknikk; also nominated was Sverre Knudsen for Arons Maskin.

Bonnier Publishes Steve Jobs' Biography in Swedish and Norwegian

Cappelen Damm and Albert Bonniers Förlag publish Walter Isaacson's book about Apple founder.

On Oct. 5, a giant departed the earth – Steve Jobs. Science historian and former TIME editor Walter Isaacson followed Jobs for a number of years and interviewed him 40 times. The result is a biography that will be released on Oct. 24 in the U.S. and some 20 other countries. Among them is Sweden, published by Albert Bonniers Förlag.

"Jobs let nothing slide, including the choice of author for his biography," says publisher Martin Kaunitz.

Garmann's Summer on the iPad

Cappelen Damm Agency Breaks Rights Record

The Cappelen Damm Agency sold more foreign rights than ever in 2010.

Cappelen Damm's foreign rights agency Cappelen Damm Agency had a record year in 2010: A total of 355 rights were sold, an increase of 100 over 2009. Growth was particularly strong for children's and youth titles as well as mass market books, but all genres increased. The most popular authors whose books sold the most foreign rights were Roy Jacobsen and his novel Brave Kids (sold to 21 countries) and Erlend Loe with both adult books and his Kurt series for children.
