SFVT to NBC Sports Network

Sport Fishing Television (SFTV), a Bonnier Corporation production in which editors from Bonnier's sport fishing magazines travel the globe fishing some of the world's greatest angling hot spots, has a new TV home this year: the NBC Sports Network.

The new network from NBC Sports launched the first of the year, replacing the Versus Network. The 24-hour sports mega-network backed by NBC should provide a great platform as the new home for SFTV. The show, now in its 11th season, airs every Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

TV4 News Launches

TV4 News, Sweden's only 24-hour news channel, starts on Jan. 24.

On January 24, watch when Sweden's only 24-hour news channel launches: TV4 News. Swedish TV viewers will get a complete news service with global, national and local sports, weather, business, entertainment and general news. A unique cooperation with BBC World News will give viewers a value-added international perspective and analysis.

TV4 Acquires Rights to Handball League Home Games

The TV4 Group has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the Swedish handball league's home games for 2011-2014. The contract, signed with the Svenska Handbollförbundet (the Swedish Handball Association), includes home matches for both the men's and women's leagues, as well as world and European championship matches between national teams.

With the acquisition, the TV4 Group strengthens its portfolio of handball broadcast rights.

Stockholmsmässan and TV4 Group Form Company

Last week  Swedish daily Sydsvenskan and Numera Mässor started a new event company, Sydsvenska Mässor och Events. Now it's Stockholms turn, with the TV4 Group and event company Stockholmsmässan starting up a new company called Besöksupplevelser Sverige AB.

New game show to premiere on Sweden's TV4.

This fall, a new gameshow, Pengarna på bordet (Money on the table) will premiere on Swedish TV4. Competitors can win up to SEK 2 million if they answer the program's eight questions correctly. The program host will be Peter Jihde.

"Peter is one of Sweden's absolutely best hosts and I'm so happy that he agreed to tackle this role.

Canal+ Extends Rights to La Liga

The Swedish Canal+ has secured the exclusive rights to the Spanish soccer league La Liga for the 2012-2013 through the 2014-2015 seasons. La Liga has been broadcast on Canal+ since 2010, and will continue for the next four seasons. The contract is for all media platforms including matches shown exclusively on Canal+ and a selection in HD.  

"Spanish soccer is in a class of its own," says Johan Kleberg, CEO for Canal+. "Spain dominates the national-team soccer and Barcelona local-club soccer.

New app from MTV Media gives subscribers access to the latest news and more.

Finland's MTV Media has released a free cell phone app: MTV3 Juuri nyt. The application features the latest most important and interesting news, sports content and entertainment news. Users can view news articles, videos and related picture galleries, plus listen to broadcasts from Radio Nova, Finland's biggest commercial radio station, to check out local weather forecasts.

"Our greatest online strengths are our rich and varied content," says Henrik Laine, MTV Media's business manager for online business. "We want to provide consumers with fast and easy access to our content.

The TV4 Group to Launch 24-hour News Channel

Along with a new 24-hour news channel, the TV4 Group is starting a news company with Bonnier Broadcasting.

This fall, the 24-hour news channel Nyhetskanalen will premier in Sweden.

The TV4 Group and Bonnier Broadcasting have also decided to create a common news organization for production of news and current affairs for the TV4 Group and other external partners.
