Sydsvenskan and Numera Mässor Start Event Company

Southern Swedish daily newspaper Sydsvenskan and conference organizer Numera Mässor has started a joint event company,  Sydsvenska Mässor & Events. The ambition is to develop the leading event company for public fairs in southern Sweden.

"The event industry is growing and we see there is a lot of potential in the market," says Johan Belfrage, finance manager at Sydsvenskan. "The timing is right and with a new conference center we hope to improve the event industry in the region.

Sydsvenskan Launches Weekend Section

Southern Swedish daily Sydsvenskan launches ad campaign for new weekend section of the paper.

Beginning with the upcoming weekend, southern Swedish daily newspaper Sydsvenskan will change the look of the second section of the paper for the weekend editions. The Friday paper will focus on the end of the week and what's happening during the weekend. The section will include the culture pages for young people and arts reviews.

New Group Shopping Site Dealie from Sydsvenskan and Göteborgs-Posten

Taking advantage of the trend for deals for site members, the Dealie website will launch tomorrow.

Tomorrow, Swedish regional dailies Sydsvenskan and Göteborgs-Posten will launch the group shopping deal site together. Members of the site will receive 50-90 percent rebates for a specific product or service, with each deal lasting between 24 and 48 hours. The seller or store providing the offer pays for the customers while the marketing is provided free.

Bonnier Adds Content to Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1

Ten apps from Bonnier will be included when the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet hits the stores on June 29.

When Samsung's new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer appears in Swedish telecom Telia's stores in Sweden on June 29, the computer will be filled with news and entertainment from a range of Bonnier companies. A total of 10 apps from Bonnier will be pre-installed on the device, which will be packaged together with coupons for subscriptions and premium services for the included apps.

News Design Winners

When the Society for News Design Scandinavia (SNDS), handed out prizes for the best newspaper design, Bonnier newspapers Sydsvenskan, Trelleborgs Allehanda and Dagens Medicin were among the winners. Check out the entire list  here (in Swedish).

Sydsvenskan+ Wins Scandinavian SND Prize

The Scandinavian branch of the Society for News Design, SNDS, honors the iPad newspaper Sydsvenskan+ and other SDS websites.

On May 12, prizes will be given out in the Scandinavian branch of the Society for News Design, SNDS, which honors newspaper design. The winners have already been announced, just not which medals they will get.

News+ a New Way to Read the News

News+ has arrived. A tablet platform for daily newspapers that’s not a printed version in digital format and not a newssite. Bonnier R&D’s Pontus Schultz and Dagens Nyheter’s Kalle Sandhammar explain.

After nearly half a year in development, Bonnier has launched News+, a daily newspaper platform for tablets. Soon available at Apple's App Store, first out of the starting gate will be Swedish morning newspaper Dagens Nyheter with DN+.

At Sweden Social Web Camp, the country's web entrepreneurs gather to talk about the future of the Internet.

For the second year in a row, Sweden's web entrepreneurs and others interested in social media gathered together on Tjärö island on the west coast of Sweden at SSWC, Sweden Social Web Camp. Some 400 people gathered together over the weekend of Aug. 13-15 to camp, swim and take saunas - and talk about the future of the Internet. Workshops and presentations are held based on interest, and run by the participants themselves.

No one in Europe could have missed last weekend's biggest news from Sweden: Crown Princess Victoria finally got her Prince Daniel. The wedding was watched with interest by royalists and republicans alike - and the media of course. TV4 broadcast before, during and after the wedding and was also a major partner for Love Stockholm 2010, the city festival held in conjunction with the wedding in Stockholm June 6-20.

SDS Launches Hamtmat.se Takeout Food Delivery for the Web and iPhone

A week ago, the SDS Group launched Sweden's newest site for food lovers: Hamtmat.se, for ordering takeout food delivery via the web. Site visitors type in their postal codes and they get a list of restaurants offering takeout delivery. They can then order and pay via the site, and the food will be delivered to their doorsteps.
