Expressen and DN Win Paper of the Year Prizes

Today industry association Tidningsutgivarna announced its winners of the Daily Newspaper of the Year awards. Several prizes went to Bonnier: Expressen, which won for editorial staff of the year, and Dagens Nyheter, which won for advertising department of the year.

Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter gets a new design, a section for Stockholm and more on personal finances.

For the past year, the editorial team at Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter has been working on developing a completely new  Dagens Nyheter. The first issue of the new paper came out today. The new design and content is the result of asking 20,000 readers what they want.

– It's exciting that we can finally show our readers what we've been working on for so long," says managing editor Åsa Tillberg.

DraftFCB Wins DN Reklamcupen 2011

Ten apps from Bonnier will be included when the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet hits the stores on June 29.

When Samsung's new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer appears in Swedish telecom Telia's stores in Sweden on June 29, the computer will be filled with news and entertainment from a range of Bonnier companies. A total of 10 apps from Bonnier will be pre-installed on the device, which will be packaged together with coupons for subscriptions and premium services for the included apps.

When and how did you come up with the idea for the two new Dagens Nyheter apps and how did you develop them?

When I started at DN.se in November 2009, I checked out what databases would be appropriate for packaging in an app format, since databases quickly and relatively inexpensively can form the basis of apps. Etiquette expert Madeleine Ribbing's question and answer archive and Bengt-Göran Kronstam's wine database were two good examples.
