Young Journalist Awards Announced

Sweden's best school newspapers win prizes from Dagens Nyheter and Expressen.

On May 28, the winning school newspapers were announced in this year's Lilla Journalistpriset - the Junior Journalist Award. The prizes were given out at the Dagens Nyheter building in Stockholm.

The winner in the print cateogry was Magazinet (Stallarholmsskolan, Strängnäs) for junior high and Spångapressen (Spånga Gymnasium) for high school.

I Form's Kvindeløb Races Attract 35,000

I Form magazine has made a hit with its women's Kvindeløb races, which are held throughout Denmark and Sweden.

Seven years ago, when Denmark's i Form fitness magazine started up its first women's race - the i Form Kvindeløb, some 3,000 Danish women took part. The race went through Copenhagen, and the women could run either 5K or 10K. Since then, the race has taken off, with counterparts in the three next biggest cities in Denmark and in September 2009, in the Swedish city of Malmö.

TV4 to offer live broadcasting of programs from four channels, just in time for the upcoming World Cup and royal wedding.

The TV4 Group has taken yet another big step - the company now offers all of its content in all platforms. Which is good timing for soccer fans in Sweden, who will be able to watch the World Cup live in their cell phones soon. All programming from TV4, TV4 Plus, TV400 and TV4 Fakta will be available direct in cell phones at the same time it is broadcast on traditional TV.

It's all about getting the word out - or in some cases, getting the pictures out. This was the thinking behind the recent decision of Swedish book publisher Bonnierförlagen to release author photos for use on Wikipedia.

"We released photos of those authors we have photographed ourselves, where we hold the rights to the photos," says Bodil Forsberg, communications manager at Bonnierförlagen and the person behind the initiative.

Sex and the City 2 is destined to be a super blockbuster, says SF Media CEO David Bonnier. A big audience means big advertising opportunities.

For Sweden's SF Bio movie theater chain, the upcoming Sex and the City 2 movie is more than just your average blockbuster. "Every year some 200-230 films are released at cinemas, of which 10-20 percent are blockbusters with a higher number of moviegoers than average," says David Bonnier, CEO for SF Media. "Among these films you'll find a few 'super blockbusters' that not only draw huge crowds but also are interesting commercially because advertisers find it very attractive.

Albert Bonniers Förlag Releases Prime Minister Biography Series

The spring's big release from Albert Bonniers Förlag is a series of biographies of Swedish prime ministers from the past hundred years.

The 22-book series Sveriges Statsministrar under 100 år - Sweden's Prime Ministers Over a Century - is now available in Swedish book shops. The boxed set is the biggest project from Albert Bonniers Förlag in recent years and the launch includes a range of activities planned for 2010, including seminars with the authors and some of the former prime ministers along with a TV series that will be broadcast in May and June.

The latest issue of Islands introduces new apps.

First came Islands Pictures App for the iPhone and iPad. Now, the June 2010 issue of Islands promotes the app on the cover and includes three scannable tags inside that unlock three more special apps.

Cappelen Damm Invests in Streaming of Audio Books

New service Ordflyt to launch in the fall in Norway.

Norwegian book publisher Cappelen Damm has signed a contract with Aspiro Music to develop and launch a new streaming service for audio books: Ordflyt. The service will be launched on the Norwegian market in the fall.

With Ordflyt, users can listen to a selection of the company's books via the computer or cell phone. With help of a book mark, listeners can continue at the same spot in the book even if they change platforms midway through.
